What is happening(there is very little CVS activity) with GDB support for CDT?

If this is a more or less dormant project for lack of active
commiters/workers perhaps it could be moved to cdt-contrib so the
threshold to work on it is reduced?

IMO, it suffers more from lack of attention than too aggressive modification.
