Without examining the details, that could certainly be the cause. Changing 
the bindspec file manually won't necessarily become correct as the xml 
format may have changed more than just renamed elements, and thus causing 
other strange errors.

Eventually we will provide code to recognize upgrades and on-the-fly convert 
the metadata according to new schemas (hm, can't remember if there's a bug 
filed on this). So far we haven't taken the time to handle this situation 
gracefully as we're continually playing around with the schemas, so an 
upgrade mechanism won't be in place until v1 of the schemas are fully final, 
and we're moving into a 'must-work-with-older-versions' mode...so this 
will/may continue as we publish more snapshots unfortunately...

At this point in time you can just delete the metadata; it'll be recreated 
by the new materialization.
