BIRT 2.0 Released
The BIRT Team are pleased to announce that BIRT 2.0 was made available for download on the evening of January 23rd!
Sue Lee has already sent out an email letting everyone know and including a link to the New and Notable (http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/project/notable2.0.php).
BIRT 2.1 Planning
BIRT 2.1 planning has not progressed much this week in terms of a formal plan since we were working on remaining items for BIRT 2.0. However, the development teams are starting to work from Bugzilla. A view of all current BIRT 2.1 activity can be found by looking at the Bugzilla entries assigned to BIRT 2.1.
BIRT Web Site Updates
The site has now been updated to the "Phoenix" look and feel. Thanks to the work from Jason Hellman and Jason Weathersby.
A number of other updates for BIRT 2.0 are progressing:
- New instructions for Building BIRT from the source code.
- Updated documentation on using the BIRT Report Engine API
- Updated documentation on embedding the BIRT Viewer in an application
- Updating the new user Tutorial
Conference Talks on BIRT
The PMC continues to work with the broader open source community to let people know about BIRT. If you are aware of any opportunities for BIRT presentations, please let the PMC know.
Summary of current talks:
- 3 talks planned for EclipseCon (Tutorial, Beginner Talk, Advanced Talk)
- Eclipse conference in Germany
- Proposals for talks at upcoming MySQL conference
Articles on BIRT
The news coverage of BIRT 2.0 is expected to generate a number of articles in the general press.
