4. Are you trying to install Eclipse into C:\Program files or some otherread-only location?


Yes and that was the problem! Thanks for the pointer!

I unzipped the eclipse archive into another directory and after the AJDTupdate it worked.Also, this Eclipse distribution (Indigo for Java Developers) has m2e alreadyinstalled so it was not necessary to install it manually.
