This thread originated from the alf newsgroup.  You may want to reply to
it there to keep the thoughts together.

Just so every one knows, currently the alf newsgroup automatically
forwards to the alf-dev mailist which is a bit confusing IMO.  We'll get
this stuff figured out eventually :)

If we're going to be good eclipse citizens, then an EMF-based
serialization format might make a good options - particularly if we're
going to be persisting assets that may wind up in an RCP-hosted viewer.
There are a number of Eclipse projects (TPTP being a prime example) that
use EMF as a storage format.

A native XML database might be a good solution since BPEL is dealing
with XML data already. Their is an open source project to provide a web
services interface to XML databases that surport the XML:DB API. The
project is called Montag and can be found at
http://montag.sourceforge.net/index.html.
