I have installed the latest release 2.1.1 (full, non beta) yesterday on my laptop. While I was doing something on a laptop disconnected from network, I needed to find some information in a CDT help pages. Some of the pages displayed fine but there were quite a few pages that did not open (404 error page). After some investigation I found out that all of the non-disolaying pages are external URL references to Eclipse website. These need to be reviewed and fixed.
This is unlikely to be addressed (unless you are volunteering to do the work and submit the patch -- it should be very easy to do). This was done because the help was not available when the software was released.
> This was done because the help was not available when the software was released. As far as I can see - the pages are available but reside at http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/docs/ Why then it can't be provided with the released CDT? > This is unlikely to be addressed ... Why - it's clearly a bug? Or did you mean it would not be addressed in this version of CDT but will be addressed in version CDT 3.0?
I agree that the pages are now available now (in english only). However, the only way that items like this get done, is if someone is willing to do the work (that is a self-evident statement). I was pointing out that there is nobody working on the documentation. I don't necessarily agree that it is a bug, but if you provide a patch to the docs to fix the problem, I will apply it.
Created attachment 74370 [details] Links are from help not from web site and added a few more entries to the list of tutorials
The two files (topics_getting_started.xml and cdt_o_tutorial.htm) contined a reference to http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/docs to a specific help page. Ithe attached aptch contans the proper link to the online help for those references. Also, a few more entries to online help tutorials were added to those topics (for now).
Patch applied. Thanks Angelina!
