Description Robin Green CLA 2005-03-07 21:10:38 EST
I couldn't find instructions on how to install the zip file of the oprofile
feature on the downloads page, and the obvious thing to try (unzipping it in my
eclipse installation directory) had no effect, so I gave up on that and built
from CVS instead.

The CVS code built successfully, after I had installed the CDT SDK feature, but
it failed to start in a test workbench, with "Unknown Error". (It also said
OPROFILE was not compiled into my kernel, which is not true. modprobe oprofile
works.)

The new installation scripts address this issue. See
http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/%7Echeckout%7E/org.eclipse.cdt-contrib/org.eclipse.cdt.oprofile-home/downloads.html?cvsroot=Tools_Project
for installation instructions.

Also, note that you need to be running an SMP kernel to use OProfile (running an
SMP kernel on a UP machine is OK).
