I just installed a new Eclipse yesterday and tried it out for the first time and got this bug. So I did not make any changes at all to the Eclipse I downloaded. When any kind of hover box pops up, Eclipse loses focus and I need to click on the screen to regain the focus. This happens, for instance, when the mouse is above a variable or when the code assist comes up. This did not happen before; it only started recently. I am not sure what caused it. Must be some Windows thing that Eclipse does not react to very well. The bug is very annoying. It essentially makes code assist more trouble than it is worth since I have to reclick on the Eclipse window to be able to use Eclipse again. I have also installed TweakUI and the option Activation Follows UI is not checked.
I would like to add that this problem seems to be unique to Eclipse. I have tried Visual Studio, and when a hover box comes up in that IDE, the focus is not lost. With Eclipse, the main window only regains the focus when the hover box goes away.
David, on the newsgroup you wrote: "This problem just started today" which - for me - implies that it worked before. Correct? I cannot reproduce using Eclipse 3.0.x and 3.1 M4 on WinXp SP1.
