I haven't been able to replicate this but I got into a state where the classes 
in the rt.jar did not show up in my type dialog or using code assist.

Restarting the workbench solved this issue. I didn't have a log anywhere.

The fact that the types weren't in code assist either points to a search/index
problem.

Moving to JDT/Core.

Cannot reproduce either. Please reopen if you have steps to reproduce.
