A ConnectionRouter and/or a layout manager, which makes connections go (right-
angled) around editparts would be very important in my opinion.
Diagrams, in which connections and editors overlap themselves, are not very 
user friendly.

I haven't found a possibility to do that.

There is an algorithm for doing this without right-angled connections.  See the 
logic example for a demo.
