**** This enhancement request is intended as a placeholder for some work that will need to be done to ensure AJDT installs into forthcoming Rational product tools based around Eclipse 3.0. **** It's a minor point but ... after AJDT 1.1.12 (direct from CVS HEAD) is installed into an early access build of Rational Software Architect 6.0 beta the Welcome screen (and pages that link from it) does not show any of the AJDT images and links that appear after an AJDT installation into a plain Eclipse 3.0. Looks like the AJDT welcome functionality added in 1.1.11 does not work with the welcome plug-in supplied by Rational.
I'm giving this one a target of M2 - I think we should see if there is anything we can do about this soon. George and Helen, could one of you start by checking whether this is still a problem with AJDT 120M1 with a more recent RSA build?
I can confirm that this is still a problem with AJDT 1.2.0 M1 installed into RSA 6.0 build of 6th October.
This is because the rational product uses their own configId in the org.eclipse.ui.intro.configExtension extension point. The fix is to add "rational" configExtensions to the ajdt.ui plugin.xml. I've done this, plus changed the icons a little to fit in with the rational theme. Interestingly enough, if you launch a runtime workbench that is eclipse rather than rad, then all our entries appear in the welcome pages for this runtime workbench. This fix hasn't been integrated yet, but will be soon. There is an extension to this enahancement request, and that is that we add relevent welcome pages to all the sections (rad provides two more on top of those supplied by eclipse) and to integrate our examples and samples into the rad framework. There is now an AJDT contribution to the Rational "Web Resources" welcome section. This currently provides links to the AJDT and AspectJ homepages, the AOP@Work developerWorks article series and the developerWorks Visualiser tutorial. This has been put into builds for AJDT 1.2 and 1.3 and will be available in the next clean builds.

I think this can now be closed as AJDT contributes to all of the rational welcome pages.
