The Code formatter has an option for indenting using tabs but it doest replace whitespace that already uses spaces. it should do this. Furthermore, it should have an option to only use tabs for leading indents (indent to level and not lining up parameters). For reference, please see how jalopy indent options with leading tabs works.
Reconsider post 3.0.
I am distressed now that there are two bugs I have submitted on the formatter that are now summarily "resolved". It is as if someone is trying to falsely show that there are no bugs in the 3.0 version. The formatter is completely useless to me in its current state and will remain so until it can create whitespace properly. I doubt I am the only one with this opinion.
Reopned for 3.1 hopes. =) I changed the description to be a bit more enlightening. However without 49896 resolved, this would actually fry perfectly formattted files. It should probably be an option to replace existing whitespace and not merely always done.
Could you please give an example that doesn't work? Where whitespaces are not propertly replaced.
Deferring post 3.1
Once again, formatting that is fundamental to anyone using tabs is being deferred. Its really frustrating because it seems like the team is only supporting formatting options that they personally like. There are lots of people using the product and leading tab formatting is one of the most commons styles I have seen in 8 years of consulting. I suppose I just cant use the eclipse formatter since they dont want to support BASIC functionality.
Why didn't you reply to comment 4? There is some support in place for mixed tabs/spaces. So I'd like you to give me an example that fails.
As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported. Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
