No matter which old stackoverflow comment I followed, I couldn't get past the eclipse failing to launch (couldn't find libraries). The splash screen would just sit there.

I found I needed to:
cd ~
rm -fr .p2
cd /Applications
rm -fr jee-2024-03
just to clean up...

Then I downloaded the specific version for my MacOS aarch64 (eclipse-jee-2024-03-R-macosx-cocoa-aarch64.dmg) and was able to run it from that dmg, so I created a new /Applications/jee-2024-03 folder and copied the Eclipse.app there (after first dropping it into the Applications folder in the dmg display).

The download eclipse-inst-jre-mac-aarch64.dmg with the installer (even if upgraded) is a non-starter.  I do have an older jee-2023-12 version of Eclipse installed.
