I have removed all previous versions of eclipse, including hidden directories .eclipse and .p2 I downloaded the installer and ran it. It detected my JRE 11.0 The splash screen launches, then the welcome screen. I navigate to the workspace and click on "New Java Project" and enter a project name and "Use Default JRE" then click "Next>" At this point it hangs forever, meaning that it is non-responsive to all mouse and keyboard input. It does not even respond to the "cancel operation" button. It is necessary to ^C. Yes I have tried eclipse -clean Yes I captured jstack output and posted here on bugzilla. ZERO HELP. The OS is Ubuntu 18.04.4 x64 I have been using eclipse for years and this is the first time I have ever encountered a problem like this. You have turned a fantastic tool in a pile of junk.
Please attach your jstack here or link to the bug report you have created. Consider to be more polite with your comments in the future.
Created attachment 285631 [details] Gtk and/or X bug freezes the UI because of rectangle with negative height On the console I discovered that the UI does not hang - it responds in the expected way to mouse and keyboard events. When sent to a remote X server, however, it appears to hang forever because it is trying to create a rectangle with negative size. In the attachment look at the very bottom. It says BUG when trying to create a rectangle with height -13. X servers tried: X410 and VcXsrv. Note: 2020-06 works fine.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
