Description Wayne Beaton CLA 2020-06-04 12:36:12 EDT
Based on the recent submission of an IP Log for the project, I'm assuming that the intent is to push out a version 1.1.3 with the simultaneous release. I've adjusted the release date on the record accordingly.

I've noted that the aggrcon file for the simultaneous release has not been updated. If your intent is to participate in the simultaneous release, you need to socialize this update via cross-project-issues-dev ASAP.

We'll use this bug to track the release

We require IP Team approval of the IP Log.

We require PMC approval of the release and review materials.

There's help regarding releases in the handbook.

I've noticed that the project is still using the EPL-1.0. We need the project to update to the EPL-2.0. Time is really short for this release, so I assume that updating in this timeframe is unrealistic as you have higher priorities (but it would be great if you could make it happen). I need you to make updating to the EPL-2.0 a priority following this release, please.

There's help on Bug 530393.

The project repository is missing LICENSE and CONTRIBUTING files. The documentation generator [1] can create these for you. Please add them to the repository (note that since you have about.html files, you don't need to add a NOTICES file).

I have worked on the project update the whole day. Yes I plan to release 1.1.3. The IPLog was more a try to see how this log will be updated by the automated background process.
And yes I will also update the aggregation files in the simrel release as soon as possible.

Btw. it is not only the bpel project which I updated but also the mdt.bpmn2 project to version 1.5.1.

I do my very best but I can not spent all my time for this job ;-)

Hi Wayne, I try to figure out how to update/add the missing documents.
Can you confirm that the bpmn2-modeler project (https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/soa.bpmn2-modeler) is already up to date? Than I have a chance to compare this project to the others.
You know I am a new committer and I was not aware that it will be my first job to fix those kind of organizational issues....
The projects are really in bad shape in this regard. Do we have to bring the projects into the simrel in any case or can we just skip them?
Comment 4 Wayne Beaton CLA 2020-06-04 14:51:38 EDT
AFAICT, the Eclipse BPMN2 Modeler contribution to the simultaneous release has been upgraded to version 1.5.2. I believe that that is the current release.

Unfortunately, I am not the expert here. You'll need to engage the experts on cross-project-issues-dev [1] if you need assistance.

I'll help with the process parts.

I believe that the project's intellectual property state is good.

I'm a bit confused, though, that the build is pulling Eclipse project content from a p2 repository on download.jboss.org (it also appears to be at least pulling an index for Helios builds from eclipse.org). An Eclipse project should pull content for other Eclipse projects from Eclipse servers.

It seems weird as well that activation [1] (which I believe must be a dependency of another dependency) is being pulled from a jboss repository. The rules for participating in the simultaneous release require that all third party content be pulled from Eclipse Orbit.

I'm making a judgement call that this is not a showstopper at this point. I will approve the IP Log. But it does warrant further investigation.

Comment 7 Wayne Beaton CLA 2020-06-04 15:20:37 EDT
Ralph, I don't consider updating to EPL-2.0 to be critical for *this* release. Focus your attention on getting the new bits into the simultaneous release repository. Updating the license will be a requirement for the next release.
Comment 8 Wayne Beaton CLA 2020-06-04 15:21:33 EDT
The IP Log is approved.
Comment 9 Ralph Soika CLA 2020-06-04 15:50:03 EDT
I updated the license information for the bpel project and also for the mdt.bpmn2 project.

I will proceed with updating the simrel aggregation files. But now I have another problem where I need your help

My nightly build for the mdt.bpmn2 project failed:

https://ci.eclipse.org/bpmn2/job/bpmn2-mdt/65/console

The reason is that there is no output directory

/home/data/httpd/download.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt/bpmn2/updates/nightly/2020-06

can you create this directory for me?
Comment 10 Ralph Soika CLA 2020-06-04 16:20:39 EDT
Also the directory is missing for the bpel project I think:

Hi Wayne, I decided to NOT update simrel for mdt.bpmn and bpel. I want to wait for Eclipse 2020-09. So we only provide a new release of bpmn2-modeler in 2020-06. I hope this is ok?
Comment 12 Maria Teresa Delgado CLA 2020-06-08 11:32:03 EDT
AFAICT there is still not a PMC approval request. Please do ASAP in order to have enough time to schedule the release for June 17th.
Comment 13 Ralph Soika CLA 2020-06-08 12:53:52 EDT
We do not plan to put the new version 1.1.3 into the simrel. So we stay with the 1.1.2 which should be fine.
I will add the 1.1.3 release in 2020-09 - hope this is ok?
Comment 14 Maria Teresa Delgado CLA 2020-06-10 15:43:29 EDT
OK then. dully noted. Let's put this on hold until then.
Comment 15 Wayne Beaton CLA 2020-11-20 15:51:28 EST
Housekeeping.

I've noted the update to the EPL-2.0 and have updated the metadata accordingly.

I think that we're missing PMC approval (at least I don't see it in the archive). I'm going to optimistically assume that the PMC approves (we really need their approval for the next release review).

I've marked the review successful.
