Description Ed Willink CLA 2020-03-08 06:56:57 EDT
The Java Compare editor is really useful; I use it alsmost every day.

But in 10 years, I don't think I have ever found the structure compare overiew useful; it is just a major waste of screen space that can only partially be recovered by moving the sash.

Please provide a preference to hide/show structure view. (Controlled by a menu option.)

--

Inspiration. Found that there is a Window->Preferences->General->Compare/Patch that does exactly what I want.

--

Just need a menu option within the compare editor.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

Hi Ed. You actually can hide the Structure Compare by simply double-clicking on the Java Source Compare header (where the title is). Double-clicking again will bring up the Structure Compare again. Double-clicking on the Structure Compare header will make the Java Source Compare disappear and double-clicking again will make it reappear. Ok to close?

No. The request is for a menu option.

The double click accelerator is handy but cute without any hover text.

Also if the Window->Preferences->General->Compare/Patch has been set to not show the structure, there is no double click to show it.

Please provide a menu option to provide the functionality in an obvious way.
