Using Java search finds no references in current project or workspace (context menu -> references).
Even when new "code mining" feature shows >0 references, the search resulting from clicking on this info does not find any matches.

Most likely a duplicate of bug 545293.

Andrey is right.
Installing Java-12 support patch as mentioned in 545293 solved this issue.
