Empty update site

The Updates tab in the product editor seems broken.
I added a URL in the Updates tab, but it is not shown in the Available Software Site preference page.
I followed the instruction in https://www.vogella.com/tutorials/EclipseP2Update/article.html#adding-p2-update-sites, and created a p2.inf file that includes the appropriate URL.
Still, I found no URL in the preference.
I tried to import a sample project in https://git.eclipse.org/c/equinox/rt.equinox.p2.git/tree/examples/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.examples.rcp.sdkui, but this sample still showed the same issue.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
