The target platform contains a single software site. There are unresolved (and unneeded) requirements in the platform, so checking "Include required software" will cause an error ("Problems occured while resolving the target contents"). However, due to cross-platform development, "Include all Environment" checkbox must be marked anyway. After configuring the target platform to include all environments, there are no issues in development or export. However, the platform definition will become invalid on: - opening the target platform preference page - opening the target platform definition When inspecting the now invalid target platform definition, the error message is "Problems occured while resolving the target contents", the same error as if "Include required software" had been checked. The invalidation is transient - cancelling the dialog will not cause the target platform to no longer be resolved. Applying will break the build, though. A workaround for unrelated preferences is to select a different preference page and cancel the preference dialog so it will open on a different page the next time. To edit the target definition (say, add a local directory), one has to edit the update site as well, reselecting the correct content and check "Include all Environments". With the invalidated target platform, the update site content editing dialog also loses some usability: - previously selected features are no longer greyed out, or indicate their previous selection status in any way - features are shown in their respective group, and additionally as a root entry in the list (with the groups alphabetically placed within that list
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
