Sometimes it happens that on one machine (Windows 2000 Pro, Eclipse 2.1.2, Sun JDK 1.4.2_03) I cannot type the { and } brackets into the Java Editor. The funny thing is: Any other characters work, and { and } are working fine, too, in any other opened java file. Very strange. In fact, I also cannot copy and paste { and } from another location inside of the same file, but is IS working to copy and paste { and } PLUS ONE BLANK!? This happens approx. every one hundred bracket, and really only on that machine with that file and really only with that two characters. Closing that file and reopending doesn't solve it. Also shutting down and rebooting Eclipse doesn't solve it. In fact, it works again directly after having copied { plus a blank from another location into my file: From that time, it keeps on working for a few hundred brackets... THIS IS NO JOKE, IT REALLY BLOCKS ME FROM CODING.
I see two possible causes for this: 1) the file has a different encoding 2) you accidentally switched the input mode Please reopen if it is not one of the above cases and you have a repeatable scenario.
