We should offer templates to make it easier to add e4 menu entries and e4 toolbar entries to the IDE.

See screenshot.

Olivier, this might also be a good fit to your EclipseCon talk.

Hi lars,

And the warning about schema not frozen should be updated... I think now it is stable !

But for the templates actually there are only 2 :
* fragment
* processor

Why not :)

+1

I think we should add templates for "new menu contribution" and "new toolbar contribution".

But it is already done if you do :

New Plugin Project
Make Contribution to UI
And select the template...

Something better would be to definitively say :

   Make Contribution to UI -> E3 or E4.

In E4 we could select JFace or Java FX and that should depend on the good library, and in E3 it would depend on org.eclipse.ui...

I should open a bug for that...

Bug #539113 also opened...

3.x command

Yes, but if you have already a project you cannot easily add a new e4 menu entry to it. It is available for the e3 command, see new screenshot. Always creating a new project is not the best way, if you have already the plug-in.

Indeed
Comment 8 Lars Vogel CLA 2018-09-16 12:23:22 EDT
Also a template for a part descriptor would be nice.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
