The screenshot doesn't help, what error message does it contain?
Maybe you have installed Java 9.

I wonder what wording of the error message would help so that users will really "See the log file in .../eclipse-workspace/.metadata/.log" ;p

I think we should add a button of open the log file in TextEdit.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.
