I noticed this when doing a Find/Replace All and wanted to know the count of replacements.  However it also happens any time you're typing and want to see the current row/column numbers.

The "Saving..." status message is not unique to auto-save, but is more problematic in this context because it's so frequent and is not explicitly user-triggered.  Can the Saving... message be shown elsewhere or indicated in some other way?

RELATED:  The 'Save' behavior came up on a call with other people.  Their complaint was that the default should always show as 'Saved' (instead of blank) because people missed that auto-save was implemented.

Reopening and added 'triaged' keyword.

We temporarily show "Saving...", which is fine, but that area then goes blank.  I think it should at least revert to whatever was there before "Saving..." came along and cleared it out.
