am on mac os x el capitan 10.11.15

following tutorial on http://docs.spring.io/spring-statemachine/docs/1.1.0.RELEASE/reference/htmlsingle/#sm-papyrus

trying to create state machine diagram.
in new project, created initial state. added state.

when i try to drag the connection/line from 'initial' to 'state', the arrow moves in sporadic ways & cannot connect the two components together.
