Description Pascal Rapicault CLA 2015-10-23 20:45:01 EDT
Today the plug-ins produced by the foundation are not distributed through the same channels than other plug-ins. What I mean here is that for the plug-ins lucky to be part of the train, users need to connect to the release update site, whereas to get some other plug-ins they need to connect to use the Eclipse Market place.
This separation is not really user friendly.

Since the Eclipse Marketplace offers a better user experience than the default p2 UI (It is better because each item is clearly separated and there is no grouping (aka categories) to confuse the user and get him/her to select and install everything under the sun); I think we would do a great service to the community if all the *user relevant content* included in the release repo was systematically made available under the Eclipse marketplace.

I mark that as FEEP because we need to have a way to automate the creation of the marketplace entries.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
