This issue was technically nearly corrected in Bug 465211 which managed to allow the specification of container and lists with no border. 

But the node correction was done without the aird/vsm corresponding migration: all the style descriptions of the corrected styles should now have a 1 default value set by the item provider instead of the current 0 default value. 

See in Bug 479419 the removed correction (setOutline calls regarding the borderSize value).
