sync error - set active is grayed out

sync project will not synchronize. I cannot select the active sync (see included screenshot). Please advise.

You can also change the active sync config from the arrow beside the yellow double-arrow icon or from the "Manage..." dialog in the screenshot. Do these work? How many sync configs do you have?

the yellow double arrow doesn't work either and I can't depress the drop down arrow next to it. It looks like I can change it via the Synchronize -> Manage... menu. Weird. I have two sync configs (see previous attachment).

Not trying to bump but any ideas/updates on this issue?
Comment 5 John Eblen CLA 2015-04-29 11:34:22 EDT
It would be difficult to debug this problem without a way to reproduce it. Does it occur frequently or did it just happen once?

One idea would be to add another sync config. The system might be confused and think there is only one config, and so adding another one could activate the menus.

The problem is persistent (i.e. it is there and it will not go away). I already thought of and tried adding a third config as you suggest but no difference. Although I don't know exact steps to reproduce, I believe it's likely an interaction between CDT and PTP due to the complexity of my project. Best chance to reproduce would be to create a project of the same type I have (see Bug 464809) until the problem exists. I can provide more details on my setup if needed in order to help reproduce the issue just let me know. Thanks

This is either an interaction (one of many I've been encountering) with CDT or an issue with using two-hop ssh connection via proxy tunnel (I can't confirm which). You can try creating a C/C++ then convert to sync project and see if that reproduces. if not, create a connection that uses SSH Proxsy Settings (i.e. two hop) and see if that reproduces. Either way, whatever it is, it is certainly a bug that persists once you get there.

please see more details for how to recreate in bug 470089. thanks.

Not to bump again, but I can't be the only person with this problem right? Seems to be an interaction with managing build configurations and sync configurations (i.e. it requires more than one build configuration to be setup in the project). Here are the steps to easily reproduce:

1) Create C/C++ project with a build configuration
2) Convert to a sync project and create new DIFFERENT build configuration for the remote sync machine.
3) Make sure that you set the default build configuration to the proper sync configurations in Project Properties -> Synchronize -> Default Build Configuration
4) Note that after initial sync has occurred, the only way to set active sync configuration is through Project Properties->Synchronize. All other methods are grayed out or combo boxes don't drop down (see attached images).

Please confirm that you can reproduce when two build configurations are present in project. If not, let me know what else I can provide to ensure this bug gets the attention it deserves. Thanks

I was unable to reproduce this bug using Linux. I will try again later using Windows.
Comment 11 Anthony Ette CLA 2015-07-07 11:17:51 EDT
Ok yeah this is Windows 7 (as indicated in bug fields). Thank you again for your support. If you still can't repeat, let me know and I will try to zip up a simple package to demonstrate (if possible).
Comment 12 John Eblen CLA 2015-07-07 12:43:54 EDT
I tried again on Windows 7 but wasn't able to reproduce the error. Could you give an exact but minimal number of steps to produce the error? (I used a C++ "Hello World" Makefile project.)
Comment 13 Anthony Ette CLA 2015-07-08 09:49:46 EDT
Despite my efforts over the last 24 hours, I have been unable to recreate this issue from a blank workspace. So, I've archived this workspace off (in case any of the Eclipse developer's decide to dig deeper than I was able to) and I've moved on with a new workspace. Please let me know if you'd like me to upload any files from my broken workspace for posterity and I will post back here right away if the issue appears again in my new workspace. Thanks again for looking into this.
