The help for the Generate Makefiles Automatically option in the CDT Project Properties dialog (http://help.eclipse.org/luna/index.jsp?topic=%2Forg.eclipse.cdt.doc.user%2Freference%2Fcdt_u_prop_build.htm) says "By default, this option is automatically set." However, I believe the default value for this is dependent on the project type, and for example, a makefile project has this disabled by default. Perhaps this help can instead say that the default value is dependent on the project type, and give examples for makefile projects versus managed projects.
