Description Martin Gutschelhofer CLA 2014-11-05 09:38:31 EST
Spell checking does not work, or is not supported in *.txt files.
I have created a simple text.txt file and no spell checking occurred.
Either this is broken, or not supported?

I'm running:
Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers
Version: Luna Service Release 1 (4.4.1)
Build id: 20140925-1800

Note: This works fine in Eclipse JDT

This boils down to bug 185695. The platform needs to support a default spelling engine. It does not make sense to put the support for .txt files in all language-specific engines.
