If a commit content is double-clicked in the GIT History when the project for that entry is closed, EGIT gives an Opening Editor Failed pop-up.

This is not wrong, but is certainly unhelpful; it points the user at a bad editor.

It would be better if at least the diagnostic reported project closed.

Possibly offer to open the project.

Possibly offer to open the file in a read only editor.

Can you try again using EGit 3.2 ? 1.2 is pretty old ...
