Default GMF-Runtime compartment appearance is not the only possible way how compartment may look, and some other implementations of the compartment figures are known. 

Additionally some of the options in existing GMF models (like "hide compartment if empty" is impossible to implement without altering the underlying compartment implementations)

However right now GMF Tooling does not allow to change the used implementation in any centralized way. 

Relying on the custom templates is not good for this case as this change requires many template changes in multiple apparently unrelated places. 

In Luna Release GMF-T shall consider: 

- providing better looking / more customizable compartment implementation
- provide centralize way to use the custom implementation in the generated diagram
