Currently there is a small "i" icon at the right-bottom of the replace field, which describes how the regular expression replacement works. 
As regular expression find is quite commonly used, it is nice to be able to quickly toggle the regular expression option instead of clicking twice in the options drop down.
Also showing the info icon by different color also tells the state of the regular expression. Grey means off and blue means on.
I found myself I had to click the option dropdown to see if the regEx option is on or not, which is not convenient.
