Description Eric Schellhammer CLA 2013-07-09 05:05:16 EDT
The query "Show where used" on a Test Case scans
 - the currently open project and
 - all Used Projects that have been opened in the Test Case Browser before (by clicking on the triangle); this makes the query history-dependent.

The following locations should also be included:
 - Used Projects that have not been opened recently

On reading this again, I realize that I made a mistake-

When using "Show where used", there is no way that the main project's test cases can be used in one of its reused projects. This would be a possible circular dependency. (Well, I'm not willing to bet that there's no way of managing it, but I'm sure we've done our darndest to avoid it happening!).

My confusion was that I was thinking of "Show specification" - if that were only showing tests from the main project (and not from its reused projects), then that would indeed be incorrect.

From the forum post, I have a feeling that what mean is included in the enhancement bug 412577. If that's not the case, please reopen this ticket or make a new one.

Hi,

indeed, I did NOT find a way to construct a circular dependency. The tool seems to be pretty stable on this issue. :-)

Rather, I was using "Show where used" on a test case of a _reused_ project (although I failed to state that), and that search has the scope described above.

It may well be that behind this lies the same mechanism as in the referenced enhancement; if this is the case, please feel free to re-close this ticket. :-)

Thanks for the update. From your comments, I do believe that it is a duplicate of the referenced ticket, and I'm going to resolve it as that.
