Description Chirag Doshi CLA 2003-07-31 06:45:11 EDT
I got the following error "search references"

The alert box title was "Search Error"
and the text was "org/eclipse/jdt/internal/compiler/ClassFile"

The error showed up all the time when I tried to search references, after that
also some references were found in the search window, I am not sure if the
references list was complete or not.

It was solved when I restarted windows.

Could you please provide your .log file?
It is located in the .metadata folder. It could help narrowing down the problem.
What build are you using?
Did you try the same steps with latest integration build?

Eclipse version 2.1.0
Build id: 200303272130

I do not know the steps that caused the error, I have not tried it on any other
build.

The only stack trace I found related to search is located in a class that
changed a lot since 2.1.
Please delete your .log file. It is too big and contains lots of problems that
are unrelated to the search issue. It looks like your workspace is corrupted
somehow. According to some stack traces, you are not able to use the jdt.ui
plugin is desactivated.
Could you please try a fresh workspace and see if you can reproduce it? You
might want to use a 2.1.1 build or move to latest 3.0 integration build.

Please reopen once steps to reproduce are isolated.
Comment 6 Philipe Mulet CLA 2004-01-15 19:20:39 EST
Closing as never reproduced in a long time.

As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported.
Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
