UML2 4.1 will release with Kepler. We'll use this bug to track that release. The IP Log has been submitted and forwarded to the IP team for their review. Note that per Bug 393682, the Modeling project has been restructured and mid-level "container" projects (e.g. modeling.emf, modeling.emft, etc.) have been marked for termination. This project will have to be moved into the top level project. In all likelihood, very little about the project will have to change. We need to enumerate and effect those changes before this review can be declared successful. Does modeling.uml2 work as a project id? * The project id will change from modeling.mdt.uml2 to modeling.uml2 * The project's info page will change to http://projects.eclipse.org/projects/modeling.uml2 * Remove "MDT" from the Bugzilla product name * Move the IPZilla from modeling.mdt.uml2 to modeling.uml2 The project's downloads are currently hosted at downloads/modeling/mdt/uml2. We can move these to downloads/uml2 or leave them where they are if you're concerned about disruption. Did I miss anything?
I assume the forum will stay where it is? Also, I haven't heard anything about new infrastructure for Modeling web pages... what is the status if that? I'm concerned about a large number of links (e.g., in documentation) that references parts of the existing web site...

I'll defer to them to answer this. Webmaster can set up directs as necessary.
OK. I guess I'll wait for Ed to fill me in on the grand plan for Modeling websites. Some other things that might need to be done: - move wiki pages (e.g., from http://wiki.eclipse.org/MDT/UML2 to http://wiki.eclipse.org/UML2 ?) - update unified Modeling update site to include UML2 updates from new location (assuming we move the downloads and update sites) The same/similar things need to be done for all container subprojects. Ed, how are you proceeding with these things for others (e.g., XSD)?
(In reply to comment #3) > - move wiki pages (e.g., from http://wiki.eclipse.org/MDT/UML2 to > http://wiki.eclipse.org/UML2 ?) This is entirely up to you. > - update unified Modeling update site to include UML2 updates from new > location (assuming we move the downloads and update sites) Again, whether or not you move the downloads is up to you. In the long run, I think that moving is probably the right thing. But there will be some short-term pain. Perhaps you can maintain both for some transition period. Your call. > The same/similar things need to be done for all container subprojects. Ed, > how are you proceeding with these things for others (e.g., XSD)? I took care of a bunch of these leading up to the CVS shutdown (mostly termination). I've been forcing the rest of moves as projects come to me with a review request. It'd be nice if the PMC would take the reigns.
In the absence of the PMC "taking the reigns" (and in the absence of the new Modeling website infrastructure), I think I'd like to keep the forum, downloads, wiki, and website as they are and work towards transitioning them to more appropriate locations over time. In the meantime, the suggestions you made in the original description of this bug make sense to me.
Yes, before the Kepler release is not a time when I can focus on website restructuring.
(In reply to comment #6) > Yes, before the Kepler release is not a time when I can focus on website > restructuring. I've drawn webmaster attention to one of these (Bug 406444). I suggest that we let that one settle for a bit to see if there are any unanticipated effects that impact Kepler before pushing on the others. We can leave the actual move operations until after Kepler if that makes more sense, my earlier enthusiasm to get this done notwithstanding.

I declare this review successful! Please continue with your release. Please assemble a list of action items to complete the move of this project. There are a few projects that need to move, so let's wait until we have all/most of them ready to go before we copy the webmaster and ask him to effect the changes all at once.

I've changed my mind. I'll leave it to the Modeling PMC's discretion to determine how to implement the moves defined by the Modeling Restructuring (Bug 393682). Since the release is complete, I'm marking this bug as FIXED.
