Currently the controls demo does not have a web.xml to run standalone. The only web.xml that can be found is for deploying the servlet bridge. Furthermore the entire project layout (e.g. theme folder ouside of the source folder) seems to be tailored with only OSGi iin mind?
Is this intentional?

The WAR product related files (including the WEB-INF folder) have been removed from our demo projects with change https://git.eclipse.org/r/23031. Thus, we will avoid the confusion with standalone deployment.
