I'd like to use Filter Related (Bug 360894) to search on all plugins of the currently set target platform. This is to help finding the one plugin that contributes a certain icon to a toolbar. Often the target platform is retained by p2 repositories, so searching all plugin.xml's in the workspace doesn't solve the problem. Eclipse 3.8 M6 had this function, but as outlined in Bug 374096 the solution wasn't suitable. Comment 19 hints another way of achieving this. I'd like to have both options: search with the text that Filter Related would have applied to the filter text field and also search with what I have actually typed into the filter text field.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
I'm still interested in applying the search terms in the extensions tree of the current plug-in editor to all plugins in the target platform to see whether a specific id or phrase is used elsewhere. That would ease managing applications with lots of plug-ins. This additional entry in the context menu and the toolbar were removed mainly due to naming issues. It was already part of a milestone build in 2012. Maybe you see some value for those who still operate with RCP 3.x plug-ins. The code is still available on my computer. Naming proposals and other suggestions are welcome. (In reply to Eclipse Genie from comment #1) > If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add > it.
