Moving to Eclipse Packaging Project for advice, but my feeling is that you are trying an unsupported update. If I read the dates correctly you have a 3.7.0 installed and want to update this to 4.2M7, right? Anyway the error messages sure lock bogus.

Yes and the installation routine seem to see validation problems. IMHO, the package should be checked for integrity before going further into this. > Anyway the error messages sure lock bogus. I checked many times, updated all else one by one. Everything left depends on this package.
I haven't seen other reports about failing updates. I assume this is an update from the Indigo release to Indigo SR2 which should work... To me it looks very similar to bug 290648 and maybe to bug 361628. Is it possible that the error occurred on a machine with Java 7?

I just noticed something that doesn't match at all... in the bug description you are talking about Build Identifier: 20110615-0604 which seems to be Indigo Release. But the bug tells me that it's about 'Java EE Developers 1.5.0.20120504-1855' which corresponds to the last Juno milestone. Such an upgrade is not (officially) supported.

That's what I meant to say/ask in comment 1 :) And yes, the error message looks like the Java 7 issue. Should we move the reopened bug 290648 to a higher level? But, well, David is already subscribed to that one :)
Yes, Java 7 was installed. It is definitely related to 361628, downgrading to Java 6 did the trick. Ubuntu comes with Java 7, so we might expect some activity on this bug in the next months. Thanks.
