Build Identifier: 20110916-0149 After installing Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers on my fresh Ubuntu 11.10 development machine, I created a javascript project and opened files. Eclipse most of the time freezes for a while (The Eclipse goes black&white in Ubuntu when that happens) or even starts throwing "out of memory"-like errors. I have an Intel i5 with 3.2ghz and 8GB RAM, so I weren't really expecting this to happen and I dont think I can blame my hardware for it. Everything else besides Eclipse works great. This also never seems to happen in good old Eclipse Helios when used on the same machine. Please let me know what relevent data I can provide here. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Installed a vanilla Indigo "Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers." 2. Opened a javascript file about 50kb in size 3. Eclipse freezes, or starts throwing "Out of memory errors"
Is it any better with SR1? Was anything else installed? It shouldn't be worse in Indigo than Helios, just better.
It might also help to follow the instructions at http://wiki.eclipse.org/How_to_report_a_deadlock to determine what's actually taking time.
