Description wiepnijdam CLA 2010-04-21 08:05:41 EDT
After downloading and unzipping I tried to start eclipse but it gave me a message telling me that "the Eclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library".

I tried rebooting my system but that was of no help.

BTW: why am I able to download two different versions?
eclipse-jee-galileo-win32.zip vs. eclipse-jee-galileo-SR2-win32.zip using 2 different paths on the website. Which is the most latest and stable?
I tried both but both had the same problem.

* Service Release 2 (SR2) of the Galileo Simultaneous Release is the latest stable version.

* Which Java version are you running (try "java -version")? Is it a 32-bit Windows or a 64-bit version?

* Can you send us the exact URLs of the websites that listed the different versions? http://eclipse.org/downloads has only the link to the latest version.

I'm getting a similar problem with Eclipse 3.6; I was getting freezing with the Android SDK and it was suggested I changed a plug in file to eclipse_1308.dll; I did that and haven't been able to run Eclipse since - changing back makes no difference. eclipse.ini has the correct java directory set; I've been unable to run eclipse for 8 weeks now - getting a little frustrated with the system...

I don't know much about the Android SDK, but a little google search found this message on one of their sites "Caution: There are known issues with the ADT plugin running with Eclipse 3.6. Please stay on 3.5 until further notice."

Thanks for the reply; I'm downloading 3.5 as I type.

You need to download the java runtime environment.
