Nothing is shown in the table of elements from the update site http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/pde/incubator/visualization/site in the install dialog. However, if I uncheck the checkbox "group by category" the component is shown. I have the same problem for my own update site so I'm curious about the solution for this problem :-)
There is a lot of discussion on this topic around p2. Essentially you need to have a category or else your components will not be shown (yes, there are some very good reasons for this). To do this, create a category file (new -> file -> category file). Define a category and include your feature. Then use this file in your build (or if you export from the workspace, on the second tab there is a text box for selecting the category file).
Ian, thanks, works like a charme. I was still using the "old" site.xml based generation and wasn't aware of the export feature command.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
