Currently, each item in the model explorer has an icon, a prefix (e.g. diagram, <Class>, <Package>, ...). I would appreciate to have an option in the model explorer to show/hyde the prefixes.

Fixed.
A new button in the Model Explorer toolbar allows toggling the visibility of the prefix that shows the type of the element.
