Description Georg Sendt CLA 2008-12-18 04:51:44 EST
I got a NPE when formatting a XML-File.

1. create a file with filename .text
(only extension, no name)

2. open the file with XML-Editor (XMLMultiPageEditorPart from plug-in: org.eclipse.wst.xml.ui (1.0.410.v200809120143))

3. press CTRL-SHIFT-F for formatting the empty document.

4. the error occurs

It does not matter if you have typed any text and do the format then.

Comment 1 Nitin Dahyabhai CLA 2009-01-13 23:11:12 EST
Georg, how reliably is this happening? Is anything else installed?
Comment 2 Nitin Dahyabhai CLA 2009-01-14 04:14:35 EST
And is .text recognized as an XML file?
Comment 3 Nitin Dahyabhai CLA 2009-03-11 21:20:17 EDT
Unknown whether *.text was properly set up as indicated at http://wiki.eclipse.org/WTP_FAQ#How_do_I_use_my_own_filename_extensions_in_the_XML_editor.3F_It_only_works_correctly_if_a_file_ends_with_.xml.
