Browsing into a remote *.tar file, right-click > Properties on a file embedded in the TAR does not show its file system permissions.

Permissions should be displayed by RSE, and optionally editable, just like on the normal file system.

Replacing the archive handlers with TrueZip or Apache Commons Compress or Apache Commons VFS should be considered. For more details, see
