Description Eddie Galvez CLA 2008-07-02 21:59:36 EDT
Created attachment 106376 [details]
picture, before pressing enter

Build ID: I20080617-2000

Steps To Reproduce:
i was in the comm. perspective, had a chat session going against the default irc server.
i closed the view
i restarted a chat
i start typing, and text i type wraps much earlier than the display i see of the text field shows. screenshots will show as i pressed "m" after typing "abcdefghijkl", and then after pressing enter showing that i typed it all in one swoop.

workaround: cause the view to relayout in the horizontal dimension (say, maximize it or resize horizontally)

I believe that if you resize the view as vertically larger...or just resize the input box as vertically larger this issue may go away.

Also, I can't seem to reproduce the wrapping problem you are seeing...do you see this consistently now or was it a single time? If you are seeing it consistently, would you be able to measure and report the size of the view (width/height) and the input box in pixels? I don't doubt that you saw it, of course, but am trying to find the conditions that lead to it.

I see this was on Vista. I'm going to add Remy Suen to the cc list to see if he is aware of any input box issues on Vista or otherwise.

look at the screenshots, those aren't scaled. yes, vista, fwiw. it was consistent during that workbench session at least, since I closed and reopened the view three times then.

when i resized the view vertically larger, problem didnt go away. didnt know the box can be resized.

But when you stop Eclipse and restart does the problem go away?

This seems likely to me to be a problem with SWT on vista rather than something specific to ECF's use of text box.

I can reproduce this on Vista although once I make the view larger vertically, it stops happening. I think resolving 222253 will indirectly fix this issue.

I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of bug 222253 since the fix there will fix this too.
