Description Dave Stevenson CLA 2008-05-30 17:10:50 EDT
Generating metadata for a site that has multiple category-def elements in the site .xml and provided translations for the labels of those category definitions produces category IUs where each category IU has translation properties for the labels of all of the category definitions.

There is no behavior problem caused by the extraneous translation properties, but it does bloat the metadata.

See Bug 234154 for history and details.

Category IUs with contain only translations specific to the associated category

Gets rid of extraneous translation properties.

This patch will need updating to work with the publisher instead of the generator.
Comment 3 Pascal Rapicault CLA 2009-04-15 22:13:56 EDT
Ian, could you please look at this please?
Comment 4 Ian Bull CLA 2009-04-24 18:53:37 EDT
Since this does not actually break anything, I am marking it polish and will look at it in RC1.
Comment 5 Ian Bull CLA 2009-04-29 17:35:06 EDT
Deferring to 3.6. There are too many things on the critical path and we are unlikely to get to this.
Comment 6 Ian Bull CLA 2010-04-23 17:15:47 EDT
This isn't likely to get done for 3.6.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
Comment 8 Ed Merks CLA 2020-02-21 00:46:30 EST
This seems like a significant time investment introducing additional complexity to save a little bit of space in the metadata. With so many very unresolved bugs, I can't imagine this could ever happen.
