I20080327-0100 This isn't new, it's like this in 3.3.2. In high contrast mode, syntax highlighting is a purple. Since the text background is black, this doesn't afford a lot of contrast (some, but not a tremendous amount). What brought this home was that there's another bug where the default text size is too small in high contrast, making the color choice more noticeable for readability. One might consider that this situation somewhat represents what someone with poor vision might experience. I'd suggest either a different color or just don't use syntax highlighting in high contrast.
Created attachment 94070 [details] Screen shot showing purple+black with smaller font In the screen shot, notice that "num" and "// a comment" are very hard to read due in part to the smaller font but also in part to the purple. Compare to "public class Foo" for example.
The colors were proposed by Tod when we did the Reduced Palette theme. I will be more than happy to take better suggestions.
Maybe my eyes are just getting worse as I get older :) I'll talk to Tod about it thanks.
In progress for M5.
Moving to M6 and reassigning to inbox. I'll work on it if time permits in M6.
*** Bug 224739 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
