The transformer should allow for the option to specify a specific transformer to use instead of what ever the system default is.  This is needed as XSLT 2.0 stylesheets may not work, unless there is a xslt 2.0 processor available.  If just getting the system default, then an XSLT 1.0 processor will be retrieved most of the time as Xalan is typically the system default.   Saxon 8 or greater support XSLT 2.0, and need to be specified specifically to work with XSLT 2.0 stylesheets.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.
