I cannot jump to the matching bracket within JSP's (or Javascript).
The eclipse pref's has Ctrl+Shift+P defined for this functionality, but it
is defined for 'Editing Java Source'.
I've tried changing this to 'Editing Text' or 'Editing JSP Source', but the
Ctrl+Shift+P (goto matching bracket) still doesn't work.
My version of eclipse is Europa 3.3.1.1.

Any help in this matter would be appreciated!

This is probably not implemented in the JSP editor. Ask on eclipse.webtools
for more info.

Dani's quite right, we've not implemented that. Please open an enhancement request for it.

As a programmer, the ability to "go to matching brackets", ESPECIALLY in a JSP (where it's often much harder to figure out what's going on than in a Java class) is so essential that it really seems more like a key feature than an "enhancement".

Plus, the current version highlights the matching bracket, so Web Tools is already capable of determining which bracket matches. It seems like it should be very easy to just add a method that says "move the cursor to the position of the matched bracket" (but then again I've never written an Eclipse plug-in).

While it will be available in "markup" areas in 3.0M6, scripting areas still need a little work with their detection.

This is great news (even though this feature is most valuable in the scripting areas, at least this is a start). Thanks for your quick response Nitin!

FYI: In Juno this still does not work.

Also, if there is a JSP comment ( <% like this --%> ) between the opening and closing bracket, Eclipse can not associate them any more. Worth opening a new bug?

For javascript files it is working properly. On the other hand, for JSP files there is an key binding conflict with the "Add Maven Plungin" command due to the context association (see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=407677). In a purely WTP installation this problems is not reproducible but since the JEE distribution ships M2E the conflict arises. In order to verify this, just unbind the "Add Maven Plungin" command.

Well, I thank you for restoring this functionality for Javascript, but it is STILL not working for JSPs in Eclipse Platform 4.4.2.

Any word on when that might get fixed?

TIA.

Just checked and the functionality is also unavailable for JSPs in Mars 4.5.0.

HTH.

The functionality is not unavailable for JSPs in 4.19.0.
