Steps To Reproduce:
assume we have an attribute:   xyz
1. Press ctrl+space
2. type xyy
3. At this point the proposals disappear
4. pressing backspace does not make the proposals re-appear

Expected behavior is that the proposal window will stay open until ESC is pressed, or focus is changed.


More information:
This problem has become evident for our customers as they have a huge amount of source files.  Invoking content assist can take a long time to come up (takes around 55sec with no prefix), therefore having to re-invoke the assist because of a small typo is not optimal.

The second invocation of content assist should not take 55sec. I cannot reproduce this with 5.0 (using a project with > 6.500 files containing > 650.000 declarations).
